Our family-friendly practice and welcoming team are dedicated to providing long-term dental care for children that promotes good habits and produces a great smile.

At West Street Dental Practice, we recommend bringing children in to see us as soon as their first tooth or teeth begin to emerge. This is so that we can make sure everything is progressing as it should, and so that we can help the child begin to get used to seeing us here at the practice.

FAQs

How regularly should children see the dentist?

As with our adult patients, we recommend regular check-ups to our younger patients. Each patient is different, however, and we’ll be able to let you know when to come back in based on the risk status of the child in question. These regular visits are important for helping us to keep an eye on their teeth and oral health so that we can help prevent any issues from arising. When dental issues do occur, we’ll also be able to advise on the next steps and help create a treatment journey that is as minimally invasive as possible.

Which treatments do you offer for children?

Aside from regular check-ups, we may recommend fluoride treatments, fillings, tooth extractions, and realignment treatments as and when needed.

What can I do at home?

As with all preventive care, dental care for children starts at home. We recommend beginning to brush the teeth as soon as the first tooth has emerged, using just a dab of children’s toothpaste on a brush to do so. This not only helps start good habits in the child, and gets them used to brushing their teeth every day but is important in helping to prevent decay, damage, and staining.

This encouragement should continue as the children age and become more independent, which can be helped by setting a good example. It might also be helpful to talk positively about brushing your teeth and visiting the dentist so that they don’t become scared or nervous about coming into the practice.

Fantastic surgery!! I saw Preeya, the dentist for a small lost filling. As it was an emergency appointment, I only expected a temporary fix. Upon seeing my nerves, Preeya offered to do the filling there and then as she had the time. She was so gentle and reassuring. I later saw Donna, the hygienist who gave me a much needed thorough clean. She was extremely gentle and throughout the clean kept checking I was ok. She is extremely knowledgeable and took the time after my clean to make explain fully what she had done and also made suggestions and tips for me to try at home. Overall, I’m so impressed with the professionalism of the surgery and would whole heartedly recommend it.

As someone who is anxious and really hate the dentists. Hate interacting and don't do well with the sounds and pain involved in teeth. Spent alot of time and money with this dentist for my invisalign treatment and implant. Nothing was too much trouble with Nil during my treatment. Even though I had a few issues on the way he was fully supportive and kept in touch throughout. Would recommend this dentist.

I have been visiting this dental practice for a number of years.I have been and continue to be very pleased with the service I receive.It is not always easy finding the right practice you feel comfortable withand past experiences with other dentists has not always been positive.Today, I attended a Hygienist appointment with Donna.
