Enlighten® Evolution is a combination teeth whitening treatment. This means you will prepare and whiten your teeth at home for two weeks before coming into the practice to receive an in-chair finishing treatment with us.

FAQs

How does it work?

Like other teeth whitening treatments, Enlighten® Evolution uses hydrogen peroxide to permeate the enamel of the teeth and break down any discoloured molecules that are present there. This is initially done through a two-week treatment of home-based gels and trays which can be worn overnight or for a couple of hours a day.

You’ll be fitted for your trays here and they’ll be made just for you off-site in a dental laboratory. Once you have worn your trays and gel for two weeks, your teeth will be better prepared and de-sensitised enough to receive the in-chair treatment. The at-home treatment will have helped prepare your teeth for the treatment which in turn makes it not only more comfortable for you, but more likely of successful.

How much whiter will my teeth be?

Enlighten® Evolution is the only teeth whitening system with a B1 Vita shade guarantee. Some patients even experience teeth that are up to 16 shades whiter than at the start of their treatment.

Will it hurt?

You shouldn’t experience any pain when receiving this treatment. There can be some sensitivity involved, but thanks to the at-home treatment your teeth will be desensitised when we perform the in-chair treatment.

How long do the results last?

This varies from patient to patient and is very dependent on your lifestyle and what you eat and drink. For example, smoking, and drinking large volumes of tea, coffee, and red wine can have a negative effect on your newly whitened teeth.

Patients who receive this treatment are generally very happy with the longevity of the results, however, with results often lasting for up to three years. There are, of course, steps you can take to help prolong your results such as specialist tooth serums and toothpaste.

Fantastic surgery!! I saw Preeya, the dentist for a small lost filling. As it was an emergency appointment, I only expected a temporary fix. Upon seeing my nerves, Preeya offered to do the filling there and then as she had the time. She was so gentle and reassuring. I later saw Donna, the hygienist who gave me a much needed thorough clean. She was extremely gentle and throughout the clean kept checking I was ok. She is extremely knowledgeable and took the time after my clean to make explain fully what she had done and also made suggestions and tips for me to try at home. Overall, I’m so impressed with the professionalism of the surgery and would whole heartedly recommend it.
